Dave’s Comedy Show 12-18-2005

Big Dave did another comedy show in New London on Sunday Night – December 18, 2005

Here are two versions of Dave’s bits combined into one….though because it was sooooo dark in the club you really don’t see Dave but you can hear him well.

This version has a screen size of 160×112; the quality is good. About 60 MB

This version has a screen size of 352×240; the quality is good. About 133 MB

    How’s it going?

I found your site while searching for pictures of Talcott Mountain in Simsbury, CT. I am from Simsbury, CT originally, but I currently live in the San Francisco bay area.

I see that you are a programmer. I am a software engineer as well and I develop web based applications. I moved out to the bay area in 1999 during the height of the .com boom. Prior to that I lived in the Hartford area and developed applications for Foxwoods Casino.

I see that you have alot of bay area pictures of the Golden Gate Bridge and Pac Bell Park on your site as well. Did you used to live in San Francisco?

I was wondering how the market was for programmers/software engineers in the Hartford area.

Out here in California things are starting to turn around… there are many more jobs than there were a few years ago and salaries are starting to rapidly rise again. Which is a good sign.

Are you looking to relocate to San Francisco by any chance? If so, I am a fairly established out here and could point you in the right direction in terms of finding work out here.

What type of jobs are currently in demand in CT? What are the best companies in the area that are currently hiring?

I couldn’t imagine moving back to the Hartford Area after living in the Bay Area for 7 years, however, I have lots of family in the Hartford Area that are trying to pressure me into returning to the area.

  1. Hi Chris,

San Francisco is a beautiful city.
My wife and I visited the bay area for the first time with a couple of friends of ours this past summer.
We had a really great time and enjoyed what San Fransico had to offer. We are looking forward to maybe returning sometime in 2006, maybe northern cal.

I would say that the job market in California in general is a lot better than here in CT.
The demand for IT jobs isn’t that great and its mostly for programmers.

I work for the state of ct, mostly for project management/ IT support; I really dont do programming anymore. I like being able to have the flexiblity of doing different things everyday. People ask me what i do and for the most part its very hard to explain and my title doesn’t help me explain either, because of the flexibility of things that i accomplish on any given day. I dont have the mind set anymore to program. Though I do occassionally like spend time breaking other people’s code and trying make it work for my little projects.

It was nice to hear from someone on the west coast, I would recommend staying Cal. not only is the weather better (golf year-round), I believe the job market is going to be better and rise faster in Cal. then in CT.

    Enjoy your holiday.

    Mark
